Women's Golf preview: Lady Tar Heel Invitational
WHAT: Texas takes part in its second tournament of the 2006-07 season this weekend at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational.
WHERE: The tournament will be played at the par 72, 6,285-yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
WHEN: The tournament field will play 18 holes each day from Friday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 8. Play begins at 8 a.m. CDT each day with a shotgun start on Sunday.
WHO: The tournament features host North Carolina, Auburn, Duke, College of Charleston, Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, N.C. State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
LONGHORN STARTERS: UT coach Susan Watkins will send sophomores Caney Hines (San Antonio, Texas) and Kristin Walla (Aspen, Colo.) and freshmen Alex Richards (Austin, Texas), Raelyn Smith (Odessa, Texas) and Brittany Tomerlin (San Angelo, Texas) to represent the Longhorns. Walla led Texas with a seven-over par showing at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational last month in Albuquerque, N.M.
