Women's Golf in fourth heading into final round of Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- The 10th-ranked University of Texas Women's Golf team shot a second-round 298 (+10) at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championships (Vanderbilt Legends Club: Par 72, 6,254 Yards) on Saturday, Oct. 2 to leave themselves in fourth place (291-298=589) entering the final round. Top-ranked UCLA sits atop the leaderboard at one-over-par (289-288=577). Senior Perry Swenson (Charlotte, N.C.) is tied for seventh place, four shots back, after shooting a two-over-par 74, leaving her at even par (70-74=144). Tulane's Alison Walshe holds the lead at four-under-par (70-70=140).

"We hung in there today," said Texas head coach Susan Watkins. "I feel like we are doing a lot of good things out on the golf course. Because the tournament is so tight right now, I believe we can make a strong push tomorrow."

Junior Devan Andersen (Guadalajara, Mexico) led UT on Saturday with an even-par 72 after shooting an 81 in the first round. Freshman Kelley Louth (Victoria, Texas) and senior Lisa Ferrero (Lodi, Calif.) each shot 76 (+5) in the second round leaving Louth tied for 26th at five-over-par (73-76=149) and Ferrero tied for 33rd at six-over-par (74-76=150). Sophomore Julia Best (Bulverde, Texas) is currently tied for 44th place at eight-over-par (74-78=152) after shooting a second round 78 (+6).

Freshman Jordan Craig (Connellsville, Pa.), playing as an individual, improved on her 81 yesterday with a second-round 77. Her two-day total of 14-over-par (81-77=158) has her tied for 76th place.

The Longhorns will hit the course on Sunday, Oct. 3 for the final round of the tournament.
