Women's Golf preview: Cougar Classic
WHAT: Under first-year head coach Martha Richards, Texas opens the 2007-08 season this weekend at the 20-team Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. WHERE: Yeaman's Hall Golf Club - Hanahan, S.C. (par 72, 6,159 yards) WHEN: The tournament field will play 18 holes each day from Sunday, Sept. 9 through Tuesday, Sept. 11. WHO: The tournament features host College of Charleston, Alabama, Florida State, Furman, LSU, Maryland, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Richmond, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and UNC-Greensboro. TEXAS STARTERS: UT coach Martha Richards will start sophomore Shannon Fish (Spring, Texas), junior Caney Hines (San Antonio, Texas) and seniors Julia Best (Bulverde, Texas), Kelley Louth (Victoria, Texas) and Ashley Rollins (Austin, Texas), who played two-and-one-half seasons at the University of New Mexico and will participate in her first tournament as a Longhorn this weekend.
