Texas Ex Steinhauer claims LPGA State Farm Classic
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Former University of Texas women's golf standout Sherri Steinhauer sank a 23-foot par putt on the 72nd hole to claim a one-stroke victory on Sunday, Sept. 2 at the LPGA State Farm Classic at the par 72, 6,608-yard Panther Creek Country Club. Steinhauer led the tournament from start-to-finish with rounds of 67, 66, 71 and 67 to defeat Christina Kim by one stroke. The victory was Steinhauer's first since the 2006 Women's British Open and marked her fifth top-10 finish of the season. Steinhauer will represent the United States at the Solheim Cup scheduled for Sept. 14-16 at the Halmstad Golf Club in Sweden. Steinhauer (1982-85) was a two-time All-Southwest Conference standout for the Longhorns.
