Lee-Bentham to compete in LPGA CN Canadian Women's Open

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Texas Women’s Golf freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham will tee it up this week at the LPGA CN Canadian Women’s Open. A Team Canada Development Squad member, Lee-Bentham (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada) earned an exemption invite to the 72-hole event which is scheduled for Aug. 26-29 at St. Charles Country Club. Lee-Bentham’s playing group for the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday includes 15-year-old professional Alexis Thompson and 2010 LPGA rookie Amanda Blumenherst. The trio will tee off of the 10th hole at 7 a.m. CT on Thursday and go off the first tee at 12:55 p.m. on Friday. Lee-Bentham's 2010 Team Canada season includes a victory at the 2010 Royale Cup Canadian Junior Girls Championship and a trip to the semifinals of match play at the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship. A four-time CN Future Links champion, Lee-Bentham has also won the 2007 Ontario Women's Amateur and recently advanced to the Round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur, losing in an extra hole to top-seed Caroline Hedwall. Earlier this summer, she also competed in the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. Last summer, junior Nicole Vandermade (Brantford, Ontario, Canada) earned an exemption into the CN Canadian Women’s Open by finishing as the low Canadian at the 2009 Women’s British Amateur. Past champions of the event include a ‘Who's Who’ of LPGA stars including defending champion Suzann Pettersen (2009), Katherine Hull (2008), Lorena Ochoa (2007), Cristie Kerr (2006), Meena Lee (2005), Meg Mallon (2002, 2004), Beth Daniel (2003) and Annika Sorenstam (2001). 2010 CN Canadian Women’s Open Television Coverage
