Rollins earns Golfweek honorable mention All-America honors
AUSTIN, Texas -- Golfweek Magazine has awarded Texas senior Ashley Rollins honorable mention All-America honors after the Austin native posted UT’s top finishes in nine of its 11 events in her lone season as a Longhorn. “Her impact at Texas has been tremendous,” UT coach Martha Richards said. “She played an enormous role in getting us back into the top 25 rankings at the end of the year and in our 17th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.” Rollins (Austin, Texas/Westwood HS), who also earned All-Big 12 Conference honors, led Texas to a tie for 17th place at the NCAA Championships (May 20-23) by tying for 23rd, individually, at nine-over par over 72 holes. Rollins posted four top-10 finishes on the season, including a season-best tie for third place at the Central District Invitational (Feb. 18-19). Rollins also tied for eighth at the season-opening Cougar Classic (Sept. 9-11), tied for seventh at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational (March 17-19) and tied for fifth at the Indiana Invitational (April 7-8). She helped Texas to third place at the Big 12 Championship (April 25-27) by tying for 10th place. “She brought a mature, hard-working demeanor and a fantastic work ethic to our team,” Richards commented. “We’re excited for her that her great year has been recognized and that she has seen the fruits of her labor. We’re thrilled that we got to work with her this season.”
