IRVING, Texas -- Texas senior Shannon Fish has been named to the 2010 All-Big 12 Women’s Golf Team, the league office announced Wednesday. The official All-Big 12 awards are identified by using the Top 10 highest-ranked student-athletes according to the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings following the Big 12 Championship.
Fish (Spring, Texas) led UT with a tie for 11th place at last week’s Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship. In addition to recording her season-best finish at the league championship, Fish contributed to the team score in all three rounds of competition and improved to a team-best 14-of-14 (1.00) in team rounds counted/played this season.
With the honor, Fish becomes Texas’ third All-Big 12 selection under third-year head coach Martha Richards, joining Nicole Vandermade (2009) and Ashley Rollins (2008).
Fish and the Longhorns will return to action next week in the NCAA West Regional Championship hosted by Stanford. The 54-hole event at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif., will tee off on Thursday, May 6.
