Women's Golf ties for seventh place at Indiana Invitational
CARMEL, Ind. -- Texas shot a 22-over 310 in the second and final round of the Indiana Invitational to end the 17-team event in a tie for seventh place at 41-over par Tuesday afternoon at the par 72, 5,938-yard Crooked Stick Golf Club. The Longhorns topped a pair of teams featured in the latest GolfStat.com poll in 48th-ranked host Indiana, who placed ninth at 47-over par, and 31st-ranked UNLV, who tied for 15th at 67-over par. Michigan claimed the event at 27-over par, and Illinois' Seul Ki Park took medalist honors at even par. UT sophomore Kristin Walla (Aspen, Colo.), who earlier in the day was selected to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Golf Team, led the Longhorns by tying for 16th place. Walla opened with a 76 on Monday and followed with a five-over 77 in Tuesday's final round to end the event at nine-over par. Freshman Arliss Hoy (San Antonio, Texas) maintained her consistency in round two, firing a five-over 77 in round two to match her 77 from round one. She finished the event in a tie for 22nd place at 10-over par. Senior Ashley Prust (Englewood, Colo.), who joined Walla on the Academic All-Big 12 Women's Golf Team, lowered her first-round score by four strokes after carding a four-over 76 in round two. She ended the tournament in a tie for 34th place at 12-over par. Freshman Alex Richards (Austin, Texas) finished the Indiana Invitational with an eight-over 80 to end in a tie for 34th place at 12-over par. Freshman Shannon Fish (Spring, Texas) shot an 83 in the final round to finish in a tie for 60th place at 17-over par. Texas begins postseason play next week at the Big 12 Championships. The event runs from Monday, April 16 through Wednesday, April 18 at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco.
