Chip shots with Meredith McMahan: March 29
I hope everyone has had a superb and safe March! It has been quite a while since the last update, and it's about time to catch up!
I apologize for not having any journal entries the past couple of weeks, but I was unfortunate to catch that nasty bug that has been going around, and I even wound up in the hospital! It was not an exciting time, or the preferred way to spend Spring Break. However, my doctors were wonderful, and now I am back to my normal schedule, thank goodness.
It is an exciting time for Texas Women's Golf right now! At the end of Spring Break, we hosted the annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at the UT Golf Club. Once again, we made a tremendous breakthrough with so many of our ladies playing so well. Since it was our home tournament, we were able to enter two teams and individuals to allow everyone to compete.
We had some great overall tournament showings from sophomore Kristin Walla, redshirt freshman Erica Doody, and junior Kelley Louth, who finished in fourth place. The Texas "A" Team led the tournament by eight strokes after the second round, and although we didn't come through with the victory, it was another boost of excitement and enthusiasm for the rest of the semester.
The next week will be busy, as the ladies will leave for the Indiana Invitational, brush up on their games, take care of their schoolwork, and squeeze in some workout time. The Indiana Invitational begins on April 9, so be sure to keep up with the team at GolfStat.com.
Until next time…
