Women's Golf preview: Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational
WHAT: The University of Texas hosts the 34th annual Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational this weekend at The University of Texas Golf Club. The tournament's namesake is a 1950 graduate of The University of Texas who became one of the most prolific golfers of her time, winning more than 50 Tour championships, including four U.S. Open titles. UT's annual Texas Invitational was renamed in Rawls' honor in 1977 by former UT women's golf coach Pat Weis. WHERE: University of Texas Golf Club - Austin, Texas; par 72, 6,323 yards WHEN: The tournament field will play 18 holes each day from Friday, March 16 through Sunday, March 18; Tee times begin at 8:15 a.m. Central from the first and 10th holes WHO: The tournament features host Texas, Arkansas, Purdue, Iowa State, SMU, Oklahoma, Minnesota, TCU, Kansas, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Iowa, Penn State and Baylor LAST TIME OUT: Texas placed 11th in the 16-team Texas A&M "Mo"Morial last weekend at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas. Sophomore Kristin Walla tied for 14th place at 14-over par.
