Women's Golf preview: Texas A&M
WHAT: Texas takes part in its sixth tournament of the season and its second of the 2007 calendar year - the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial Invitational. The event is named in honor of former A&M letterwinner Monica Welsh, who died in an auto accident in 1992. WHERE: Traditions Golf Club - Bryan, Texas; par 72, 7,146 yards WHEN: The tournament field will play 18 holes each day from Friday, March 9 through Sunday, March 11; UT will tee off on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. Central and on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. WHO: The tournament features host Texas A&M, Texas, Arizona State, USC, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Denver, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Kansas State, UTEP, Missouri, Tulsa and Princeton. THE LINEUP: UT coach Susan Watkins will send freshman Shannon Fish (Spring, Texas), sophomore Caney Hines (San Antonio, Texas), freshman Alex Richards (Austin, Texas), sophomore Kristin Walla (Aspen, Colo.) and freshman Arliss Hoy (San Antonio, Texas) to represent the Longhorns. LAST TIME OUT: Texas placed ninth at the 14-team Central District Invitational last month in Parrish, Fla. Junior Kelley Louth led the Horns by tying for 18th place.
