Chip shots with Meredith McMahan: March 5
Hey everyone! Well, a lot has happened in the past week. First, our qualifying for the upcoming Texas A&M tournament resumed, and it comes to an end on Tuesday. The qualifying has included rounds played at the UT Club and at Great Hills Country Club. The competition within the team has been awesome and has made for an exciting qualifier. Besides playing regular 18-hole rounds, the coaches devised challenging short-game qualifiers that were played on the golf course and also around the practice greens. The basis of the challenge was to get up and down from the various difficult spots around the green, which proved to be a real test of the ladies’ short-game skills. It was simply a great practice drill. Well, I personally experienced some great things this past week. I was able to practice and hit balls everyday! It took a little while to remember all of the basic fundamentals of the swing -- the set-up and the follow through - but after some hard work, it all started to come back to me. It felt so great not just to be swinging again, but to be swinging well. I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally get a chance to play and not be in pain while doing it. This week will be the true test when I am able to start playing with my teammates, and, most importantly, to see how well my endurance holds up. So, I’ll have to let you know how it goes! Finally, the ladies play in College Station this weekend in the Texas A&M “Mo”morial Invitational, so be sure to keep track of them at GolfStat.com. Have a safe and wonderful week…talk to you soon! Hook ’Em!
