Women’s Golf preview: Bruin Wave Invitational LIVE SCORING: Fans can follow the Longhorns in action online at http://www.golfstat.com. COURSE: The Robinson Ranch Golf Club’s Valley Course will be set up to play at par-72, 6,282-yards. PLAY: All three rounds will begin in a split-tee format with golfers starting on holes #1 and #10, with Texas’ tee-times still to be determined. The first two rounds on Monday and Tuesday will tee off at 10:30 a.m. Central, while Wednesday’s final round is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. TEXAS LINEUP: Head coach Martha Richards’ lineup is led by sophomore Haley Stephens (Greer, S.C.) in the No. 1 position. Junior Nicole Vandermade (Brantford, Ontario) will compete in the second spot, while sophomore Katelyn Sepmoree (Tyler, Texas) is slated No. 3. Sophomore Madison Pressel (Boca Raton, Fla.) and freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham (Scarborough, Ontario) round out the four and five positions, respectively.
MEET THE LINEUP: No. 1 – Haley Stephens -led Texas on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 37th at the season-opening NCAA Fall Preview (Sept. 13-15) with rounds of 73-73-75 (+5) -led Texas on the individual leaderboard in a career-high tie for 5th at the UCF Challenge (Feb. 13-15) with rounds of 69-72-74 (-1) -ranks fifth nationally in accuracy by hitting 92.1 percent of fairways -leads Texas in first-round scoring average (71.6) -one of three players to appear in all six lineups for the Longhorns (Sepmoree, Vandermade) -one of three players to card a low round of 70 during the fall season (Sepmoree, Vandermade) -only Longhorn to hit a round in the 60s on the season (69 at UCF Challenge) No. 2 – Nicole Vandermade No. 3 – Katelyn Sepmoree No. 4 – Madison Pressel No. 5 – Rebecca Lee-Bentham THE FIELD: 15 teams: No. 10 Arizona, No. 82 BYU, No. 113 Cal State Northridge, No. 72 Long Beach State, No. 53 New Mexico, No. 59 New Mexico State, No. 46 Oklahoma State, No. 90 Oregon State, No. 23 Pepperdine, No. 48 San Diego State, No. 29 Stanford No. 25 TEXAS, No. 3 UCLA, No. 42 UNLV, and No. 114 Washington State (rankings as of the Feb. 20 edition of the Golfweek/Sagarin Index). LAST TIME OUT: The University of Texas Women's Golf team opened the spring season with its third-consecutive top-five finish at the UCF Challenge (Feb. 13-15). The Longhorns' (290-294-298) 54-hole total of 18-over 864 placed them in a tie for fifth in the 17-team field that included two Top 25 programs. The Longhorns entered the tournament ranked No. 16. Sophomore Haley Stephens (69-72-74=215) finished in a career best tie for fifth place at 1-under 216, scoring the Longhorns only round under 70 this season. Sophomore Madison Pressel’s (72-73-74=219) 3-over 216 card put her in a tie for 16th. Sophomore Katelyn Sepmoree matched Pressel’s 3-over (72-74-73=219) to also tie for 16th while recording the Longhorns’ lowest final-round score. Junior Nicole Vandermade (77-75-77=229) and freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham (81-77-77) finished in ties for 50th and 66th, respectively. |
