Chip shots with Meredith McMahan: Feb. 27
Hey y'all! Well, it has been a week since the last update, and there are a few things to talk about! First of all, the team returned to Austin last Tuesday night from the Central District Invitational in Florida, where it had a great opening 36 holes. They had a total team score of 607 (+31) and were tied for third going into the final round. This was the best showing of the season, and it really pumped everyone up! Even though the final round wasn't as low as anticipated, the team returned ready to start preparing for the next event. On a different note, my birthday was on February 20, and I don't know about y'all, but I turn my "special day" into a birthday week! I celebrated with my boyfriend and his family at Dave & Buster's, had a blast singing karaoke at Baby A's with my friends and then had a wonderful seafood dinner with my family at Pappadeaux. Just so everyone knows…it is absolutely hilarious to see (UT sophomore golfer) Kristin Walla sing karaoke; she serenaded us with some favorites from Destiny's Child and Journey while throwing in some of her own little dance moves. Okay, back to golf…there have been some drastic weather changes here in Austin this past week. It has been so sunny and warm, which makes practicing much more pleasant. After the tournament, the team had a little time off to catch up on academics and anything else they missed, and then it was back to the course. This week, we'll get back on a normal practice-and-weights schedule and prepare for the Texas A&M tournament just before spring break.
