Transfer Arliss Hoy to join Women's Golf program
AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas women's golf coach Susan Watkins announced Friday that former Texas prep standout Arliss Hoy has signed a financial aid agreement with the UT women's golf program and will join the Longhorns program immediately. Hoy (San Antonio, Texas/Converse Judson H.S.), a transfer from the University of South Carolina, will be eligible for competition for the 2007 spring season and has four years of collegiate eligibility. "Arliss is a great addition to the team and gives us even more depth for the spring season," Watkins said. "She has a competitive history in golf, as well as in tennis. Arliss is a hard worker and seems to love the idea of winning. We look forward to having her as a member of our Longhorns family." Hoy, who did not compete this fall during her lone semester at South Carolina, was a qualifier for the 2006 Texas UIL 5A state tournament and a runner-up at the 2006 regional championships. Hoy captured district championships in 2005 and 2006. A two-time San Antonio city champion (2004-05), Arliss registered her top national junior tournament showing with a top-five finish at the 2005 AJGA Abilene Reporter News Championship. Texas women's golf resumes competition on Monday, Feb. 19 at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla.
