Women's Golf climbs seven places to finish fifth at Windy City Collegiate Classic

GOLF, Ill. -- The Texas Women's Golf team carded the third-lowest final-round team score - a 5-over-par 293 - to climb seven places on the leaderboard and finish fifth at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. The Longhorns (304-302-293=899, +35) entered Tuesday's final round in 12th place but battled into the top-five as juniors Desiree Dubreuil and Madison Pressel recorded Top 25 individual finishes.
Dubreuil (75-76-74) and Pressel (79-72-74) finished Tuesday's round with 2-over 74s at the Glen View Club to tie for 25th place at 9-over 225.
Freshman Bertine Strauss tied for 35th in her second collegiate event at 12-over 228. Juniors Haley Stephens (74-76-79) and Katelyn Sepmoree (78-79-72) finished at 13-over 225 to tie for 42nd.
Sepmoree notched Texas' low-individual round on Tuesday morning with an even-par 72 that balanced four birdies and four bogeys. Pressel shot a 72 in Monday's second round to match UT's best individual round of the two-day, 54-hole event.
As a team, the Longhorns bested Tuesday's final-round stroke averages as they peaked at 78.00 for the 80-player field.
Oklahoma State (291-298-293=882, +18) held off second-place Arizona (303-292-288=883) by one stroke for the tournament crown. Ohio State (296-300-288) finished third at 20-over 884 in the 15-team field.
