Vandermade continues to pace Women's Golf at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Junior Nicole Vandermade (70-71) carded her second-straight subpar round at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Saturday to lead the Texas Women’s Golf team in a tie for 10th place at 3-under 141 after 36 holes. As a team, the Longhorns are in 13th place at 11-over 587 (294-293) entering Sunday’s final round. Beginning her round on the 10th tee of Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course, Vandermade found birdie opportunities on the 12th, 17th and 18th holes. She made the turn at 1-under with bogeys on the 13th and 16th holes. On the front nine, Vandermade traded a birdie on the first hole with a bogey on the following. A third bogey on the sixth hole pushed her total to even par, but Vandermade made her second birdie in as many rounds on the seventh hole and finished the day in red at 71. Sophomore Madison Pressel (75-71) shot her first under-par round of the fall season with a 71 on Saturday. Pressel climbed 14 places on the leaderboard with her round and is tied for 43rd at 2-over 146. Sophomore Haley Stephens (70-77=147, +3) trails Pressel by one stroke and is tied for 47th place. Sophomore Katelyn Sepmoree (81-74) is tied for 77th at 11-over 155, while freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham’s 36-hole score is 160 (79-81) and tied for 90th. LSU (272-282=560, -16) maintained its lead with a second-round 282 and holds a one stroke lead over second-place Purdue (279-282=561, -15). California (279-285=564, -12) is in third place and Georgia (284-286) and Wake Forest (286-284) are tied for fourth place with totals of 6-under 570. The Longhorns will begin Sunday’s final round at 8:23 a.m. Central on the 10th tee. Texas is paired with North Carolina and Stanford.
