Stephens leads Women's Golf on day two at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Senior Haley Stephens fired a team-best 1-under-par 71 in Saturday’s second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship to lead the Texas Women’s Golf team in its season opener. As a team, the Longhorns (294-295) are in second place at 13-over 589 entering Sunday’s final round. 

Although Stephens (77-71) climbed 23 places up the individual leaderboard from a tie for 37th to a tie for 14th place at 4-over 148, freshman Tezira Abe continued to lead the Longhorns. Abe (73-72=145, +1) carded an even 72 in her second collegiate round and is tied for fourth place.

Senior Desiree Dubreuil (73-73=146, +2) notched her second-consecutive 73 to trail Abe by one stroke and hold a share of seventh place. Senior Katelyn Sepmoree (73-79=152) and freshman Taylor Kim (75-83=158) round out the Texas contingent in ties for 28th and 57th places, respectively.

Senior Madison Pressel (75-76=151) and freshman Natalie Karcher (77-75=152) are tied for 25th and 28th places while competing as individual for the Longhorns

Arizona jumped Texas for the top position on the 15-team leaderboard with a 2-under 286 in Saturday’s round. The Wildcats (298-286=584) lead the Longhorns by five strokes. Texas A&M (302-293=595) and Virginia (300-295) are tied for third. Arizona’s Kendall Price (73-70) leads all individuals with a 1-under 143.
