Lee-Bentham leads Women's Golf in second-round action at The Battle at Rancho Bernardo

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Texas freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham carded a team-best 1-over-par 73 on Monday at The Battle at Rancho Bernardo and improved to a tie for 15th place at 6-over 150 (77-73) through two rounds. The Longhorns (303-306=609, +33) dropped to seventh place in the team standings with a score of 18-over 306 and are 22 shots behind 36-hole leader Purdue (295-292=587) entering Tuesday's final round. Lee-Bentham shaved four strokes off of her first-round score and climbed from a tie for 43rd place into the top 15. Her scorecard included bogeys on the fourth, seventh and 12th holes, and a pair of red numbers on the back nine at holes 10 and 13. She is now averaging a team-best 73.2 strokes per round throughout her last five rounds of competition after recording a career-best and team-best tie for fourth place at the Bruin Wave Invitational (Feb. 28 - March 2). Junior Nicole Vandermade (74-77) is tied for 20th place at 7-over 151, while sophomore Haley Stephens (75-77) is one stroke back and tied for 25th. Sophomore Madison Pressel (77-79) is tied for 52nd with a two-round total of 156 and sophomore Katelyn Sepmoree (79-85) is in 82nd place at 164. Junior Megan Rosenfeld (72-78=150) is tied for 15th place with Lee-Bentham at 6-over. One day after carding a career-best, even-par 72 in competition, Rosenfeld's second-round scorecard included seven bogeys and one birdie. She is competing as an individual this week for Texas.
Southern California (299-295) is seven strokes behind Purdue at 594. UCLA (293-304) rounds out the top three teams at 21-over 597. Texas will begin Tuesday's final round on the first hole at 10:09 a.m. Central alongside Arizona State and Auburn.
