Vandermade leads Women's Golf on day two at UCF Challenge

SORRENTO, Fla. -- Senior Nicole Vandermade led the Texas Women's Golf team in the second round of the UCF Challenge with a 3-over-par 75 as the Longhorns endured an early-morning frost delay again Monday morning.Vandermade enters Tuesday's final round at RedTail Golf Club tied for 21st place at 2-over 146 (71-75). As a team, the Longhorns (292-306=598, +22) dropped five spots on the 18-team leaderboard and are in 11th place through 36 holes. Vandermade's second-round scorecard contained a single blemish on her first nine holes with a double-bogey on the par-4 fifth hole. She bogeyed the 10th hole to climb to +3, but regained a stroke with a birdie on 13 before making bogey on the subsequent hole. Vandermade made par on her final four holes to conclude Monday's round. Junior Katelyn Sepmoree finished with Texas' second-best individual round at 4-over 76. She is tied for 57th place at 7-over 151 (75-76) and two strokes behind teammate Madison Pressel (72-77=149). Pressel is tied for 43rd place. Junior Haley Stephens (74-78=152) and Bertine Strauss (76-79=155) are tied for 61st and 76th places, respectively. Auburn (285-284) and Baylor (284-285) are knotted atop the team leaderboard at 7-under 569. Tulane (287-289) rounds out the top-three teams at even-par 576.
The Longhorns will conclude their inaugural spring tourney on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. Central alongside Miami and UTSA in a shotgun-start format.
