Women’s Basketball fan “watch parties,” bus trip to Baylor game planned
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas women's basketball fans have two great options to get together and follow the Longhorns in their upcoming road games – watch parties at a popular local restaurant (Pluckers Wing Factory and Grill Restaurant) for the next two televised games (at Rutgers and at Kansas) and a bus trip to Waco for the upcoming Longhorns-Baylor game via Todd Charters. Todd Charters has been offering this bus service to selected women's basketball away games the past several years. The No. 19 Longhorns have embarked on a three-game road swing, beginning with Friday's (Dec. 30th) contest against No. 9 Rutgers (8-1) in Piscataway, NJ. Game time is 6 p.m. (Central) for that Top 25 match up. The game will be televised live on College Sports TV (CSTV) and will air on KVET Radio/Sports Radio 1300 AM in Central Texas and on the internet. Texas then opens Big 12 Conference action with games at Kansas (Tue., Jan. 3, 6 p.m.) and at No. 4 Baylor (Sat., Jan. 7, 3 p.m.). Both those games also are being televised on national TV, with the Texas-KU game on CSTV and the Texas-Baylor contest on FSN (FOX Sports Net). There will be "watch parties" for the Texas-Rutgers and Texas-Kansas games, scheduled at the Pluckers Wing Factory and Grill Restaurant at the Rio Grande (UT campus) location. The address is 2222 Rio Grande. Fans should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to tipoff to be seated early. To sign up for the bus trip to Baylor, fans should call Todd Charters at (512) 272-4880. The cost for the bus trip – which DOES NOT include a game ticket - is $40 (for the round trip, box lunch and bottled water). Departure time is Noon from the LBJ Library parking lot on the UT campus. Tickets for the Baylor game are $10 each for reserved seats. The DEADLINE for ordering these tickets is WEDNESDAY, Jan. 4th at 5 P.M.; fan may call the Texas Women's Basketball Office at (512) 471-9802 to reserve tickets in the Texas block. The office is closed until January 2nd, and any calls left will be returned at that time. Tickets will be available for pick-up at the visiting team WILL CALL located outside of Gate 1 entrance at the Ferrell Center.
