Jackson named Big 12 Player of the Week

DALLAS -- Tiffany Jackson (Texas) and Maria Cordero (Oklahoma State) were named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by a media voting panel for games from Dec. 18-22.

Jackson earned her eighth Big 12 weekly honor, third as player of the week while Cordero was recognized for the first time. Big 12 teams will be off for the holidays before resuming play on Dec. 28.

Jackson logged a career-high 33 points and game-high 14 rebounds with her fifth double-double of the year to lead Texas to a 73-68 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She also added one steal, and had no turnovers in 35 minutes of play.

Her 33 points are the most scored by a Big 12 player this season. The Dallas native surpassed her former career high of 30 points with a 12-for-22 shooting effort from the field and a 9-for-11 performance at the free throw line. Her 14 rebounds were a season-high and three shy of her career best. Jackson scored 24 of her points in the second half.

She leads the Longhorns in scoring (18.8 ppg), rebounding (9.4), steals (32, 2.9 spg), minutes played (35.1 mpg) and double-doubles (5). She continues to lead the Big 12 in steals average as well.
