Conclusion of Homestand, Then to No. 4 Duke and Home Against No. 6 Tennessee
The Longhorns finish their four-game homestand -- their longest of the year -- tonight against UT-Pan American ... Then, Texas faces its stiffest back-to-back competition of the year when it travels to Durham, N.C. to face No. 4 Duke (Sunday, Dec. 10, noon on ESPNU TV) ... One week later, Texas is at home to go up against No. 6 Tennessee on Sunday, Dec. 17 in an FSN-televised game from the Erwin Center with a 12:30 p.m. tip.
For the second year in a row, the Longhorns will play Duke and Tennessee in back-to-back games - and, for the second year, UT is the only team in the nation to meet these two top five teams in back-to-back contests ... Last year, Texas lost at Tennessee (102-61) when the Lady Vols were ranked No. 1 (USA Today/ESPN poll) and No. 2 (AP poll) ... UT then dropped an 84-70 decision to No. 1/No. 2 Duke in Austin on Dec. 4, in a game which saw UT lose freshman F Earneisa Williams and freshman PG Carla Cortijo for the year with knee injuries ... Texas then lost at Tennessee, There is only one other team (outside the SEC or ACC) which faces both Duke and Tennessee this year in non-conference games - Old Dominion ... To date, UT is 0-1 against the Top 25, losing at New Mexico (63-60, Nov. 17).
Strong at Home
The Longhorns have enjoyed great traditional success at home, and are off to a 6-0 record at the Erwin Center this season ... Last year was a struggle, however, as Texas finished 8-7 at the Erwin Center ... That 8-7 mark followed three great years where UT was 15-0 (2002-03 Final Four season), 16-0 (2003-04) and 13-1 (2004-05)... In all-time games at the Erwin Center, Texas is now 375-60 after 435 contests - an 86.2 winning percentage.
