The Write Stuff: Annissa Hastings

In a new TexasSports.com feature this season, the six Longhorns seniors (Jody Bell, Kala Bowers, Jamie Carey, Annissa Hastings, Heather Schreiber and Mercedes Williams) will take turns writing a weekly diary entry, from their own perspectives on topics galore!

This week, 6-2 forward Annissa Hastings writes about Texas' last two tough games - against SEC opponents No. 5 Georgia and No. 1 Tennessee.

Up next on The Write Stuff (week of Nov. 28-Dec. 5): the "Senior Slant" from Kala Bowers.

Hello all!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and spent the holiday with family and friends

As for the Longhorns, we had a great, great Thanksgiving, especially with our win over Tennessee. The Tennessee game was very intense, very exciting. I felt like the overall performance of our team was very strong, but Tiffany Jackson was a MONSTER in the game! Her performance made me say only one word (and for those of you who know me, I love to talk)! That word was "WOW". Tiff had an unbelievable overall game.

I am so proud of this team for the way we bounced back and responded after the Georgia loss last Sunday. We were very disappointed in ourselves after that loss, and we worked very hard in practice and prepared well for the Tennessee game- and it paid off.

On behalf of our team, I wanted to say a special "THANK YOU" to the almost 12,000 fans who came and supported us against Tennessee on Thanksgiving. The atmosphere in the Erwin Center was awesome, and you helped us so much with your energy.

We also want to thank everyone who participated in the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) drive we had going on at the game. We were told that nearly 1,000 pounds of canned goods and food were donated for the food banks in Central Texas. Thanks SO MUCH for being generous and supportive. You are the best fans in America!

Well, we don't have any time to celebrate the Tennessee win. Friday night, we flew to LA to get ready to play UCLA on Sunday afternoon. UCLA is a good team which is ready to get into the Top 25. We had an early morning practice on Saturday, ate breakfast, and now we are going to study hall for a few hours before we go to the beach and walk around and shop this afternoon. Then, we'll rest up for tomorrow.

This game will be another test for us. Let's see if we can pass it!

Until next time....
