Enemkpali and McGee-Stafford selected Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Players of the Week
Nov. 26, 2012 IRVING, Texas -- A pair of Texas Women's Basketball players swept the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday. Nneka Enemkpali picked up player honors for the second time in three weeks while Imani McGee-Stafford received her first freshman award. It marks the first time since the week of Jan. 5, 2004 (Jamie Carey and Tiffany Jackson) that the Longhorns swept player of the week honors. Enemkpali averaged 22.5 points and 15 rebounds in Texas' wins over Jackson State and Central Connecticut State. She has posted a double-double in all four of the Longhorns' games this season, becoming the first UT player to accomplish this feat since Jackson in 2006. The sophomore forward's 20 rebounds against Jackson State were the most for a Longhorn since Kathleen Nash pulled down 20 against Boston University on Nov. 21, 2010. Enemkpali also posted career highs with four steals and five blocks. For the week, she hit .654 (17-of-26) from the field, including both of her three-point attempts against Central Connecticut. McGee-Stafford posted her first career double-double while averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the Longhorns' two wins. She also recorded nine blocks against Central Connecticut State, the most for a Longhorn since Ashley Gayle swatted 10 shots against Cincinnati on Dec. 28, 2010. McGee-Stafford connected on .632 (12-of-19) of her field goal attempts last week. The Longhorns will play host to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this Friday, Nov. 30, for the annual 40 Acres Field Trip. Tip is slated for 11 a.m. Central and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network.
