Jackson tabbed a top-five power forward by ESPN.com
BRISTOL, Conn. -- Texas All-America candidate and 6-3 sophomore frontcourt standout Tiffany Jackson (Dallas, Texas/Duncanville HS) was recognized by ESPN.com as one of the nation's top five power forwards. The ESPN.com women's basketball experts picked Jackson, a preseason National Player of the Year candidate and last year's National Freshman of the Year, as one of the top five power forwards in women's basketball. Jackson, who averaged 13.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg as a rookie last year, helped No. 2 ranked Texas to a season-opening win Sunday (Nov. 14) over No. 21 Penn State, 84-69 by scoring a game-high tying 15 points. Jackson is the third Texas player to be singled out for ESPN.com preseason "top five" honors. Senior point guard Jamie Carey (Thornton, Colo.) and senior wing player Heather Schreiber (Windthorst, Texas) also earned recognition as one of the nation's top five performers at their respective position. Jackson joins a quartet of power forwards - including two other Big 12 performers - on ESPN.com's list of the top players in the nation at their position: 6-2 junior Khara Smith of DePaul; Connecticut 6-0 junior Barbara Turner; Kansas State 5-11 senior Kendra Wecker; and Baylor's 6-1 junior Sophia Young.
