Enemkpali tabbed Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference and Madness National Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas -- The 12 Conference announced Monday the selection of University of Texas sophomore forward Nneka Enemkpali as the Phillip 66 Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, as selected by a media voting panel for games Nov. 9-11. It is the second league honor of Enemkpali’s career after receiving freshman honors last season. Additionally, Enemkpali earned Madness National Women’s Basketball Player of the Week (collegesportsmadness.com) accolades for her efforts over the weekend. Enemkpali recorded her first career double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds in Texas’ 70-60 win over No. 14/13 St. John’s in the WBI Tip Off Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla. The following day, the sophomore forward posted another double-double with a game- and career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over Hofstra. Enemkpali was named the tournament MVP after connecting on 18-of-25 field goals (.720) and 14-of-20 (.700) free throws. Enemkpali and the Longhorns return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20 when they host Jackson State in their home opener. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Central and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network.
