Women's Basketball ranked No. 14 in ESPN/USA Today preseason poll

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Women's Basketball team is ranked No. 14 in the ESPN/USA Today preseason poll released Wednesday. The poll is conducted by 31 NCAA Division I head coaches that are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. UT is one of five Big 12 Conference teams selected in the Top 25. Baylor is ranked No. 4, while Oklahoma and Texas A&M come in at No. 8 and No. 16, respectively. Iowa State rounds out the five league teams with a No. 24 ranking. In addition to facing its ranked opponents in Big 12 action, Texas will face two additional opponents in nonconference contests that are also ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Preseason Top 25: No. 1 Connecticut (Nov. 17 in San Antonio) and No. 9 Tennessee (Dec. 6 in Knoxville). Texas opens the 2009-10 season at home against UTSA on Friday, Nov. 13. Tip is set for 7 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center.
