Game On! No. 12 Women's Basketball squad opens play with exhibition against Everyones Internet tonight

AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 12 Texas women's basketball team unveils its young team on Thursday night when the Longhorns host Everyones Internet at 7 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center.

Jody Conradt's Longhorns are ranked No. 12 in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Top 25 poll, released on November 2. (The preseason Associated Press poll will be released next). Texas also was picked to finish second in the Big 12 Conference by preseason vote of the league's coaches.

Everyones Internet is a traveling team, based out of the Houston area, with former WNBA and collegiate stars on its roster. The squad is 1-1 so far on its exhibition tour, having defeated Louisiana-Lafayette, 82-54 on Tuesday, before losing at No. 3 ranked LSU, 84-66, last night.

For those who cannot attend the game, it will be carried live on the internet in both video and audio format. The game will be on subscription-based , while the internet radio audio can be found at (also subscription-based). This is the first year for TexasSportsTV, which will carry each women's basketball home game on either a live or tape-delayed basis this season. Each women's basketball game - home and away - is carried on internet radio.

The Longhorns are led by returning All-American and preseason national player of the year candidate junior Tiffany Jackson. The "all-everything" performer was UT's leading scorer (18.3 ppg), rebounder (8.7 rpg), shot blocker (1.9) and steals leader (3.4 spg) a year ago. Senior guard Nina Norman, an All-Big 12 Preseason Honorable Mention Team pick, was fourth in scoring (7.8 ppg) and first in assists (98, 3.5 apg) last year. The Longhorns welcome back eight letterwinners from last year's 22-9 team which advanced to the NCAA Championship second round after placing second to eventual national titlist Baylor in the Big 12 regular season standings.

In addition to the eight letterwinners, UT's class of seven freshmen is the largest rookie class in Conradt's tenure. These seven were selected as the nation's No. 1 recruiting class last year by the All-Star Girls Report recruiting service.

Tickets may be purchased at the Frank Erwin Center Box Office prior to the game, at the UT Athletics Ticket Office, located in Bellmont Hall, before 4 p.m. (Central), or at any H-E-B store in the Austin area.
