Women's Basketball ranked No. 12 in The Associated Press' preseason poll
Oct. 30, 2009 AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas women's basketball team is ranked No. 12 in The Associated Press' preseason poll. The Longhorns return three starters and eight letterwinners from last year's team that posted a 21-12 record and earned their second-consecutive NCAA Tournament berth under third-year head coach Gail Goestenkors. UT will face six opponents in the regular season who are ranked in the preseason poll: No. 1 Connecticut (Nov. 17 in San Antonio), No. 7 Baylor (Jan. 31 in Austin, March 7 in Waco), No. 8 Tennessee (Dec. 6 in Knoxville), No. 13 Oklahoma (Feb. 3 in Norman, Feb. 27 in Austin), No. 20 Kansas (Feb. 13 in Lawrence), and No. 25 Rutgers (Nov. 28 in U.S. Virgin Islands). Texas is one of four Big 12 Conference teams selected in the AP Preseason Top 25 along with Baylor (No. 7), Oklahoma (No. 13) and Kansas (No. 20).
