Oct. 23, 2008
AUSTIN, Texas -- Season ticket holders caught their first glimpse of the 2008-09 University of Texas women's basketball team Wednesday evening, as second-year head coach Gail Goestenkors and the Longhorns held an open practice at The Frank Erwin Center.
During the 90-minute practice session, nearly 300 fans saw a sneak peak of what's to come when the Horns open the new season on Nov. 9 in an exhibition game against the Houston Jaguars. The coaching staff put the squad through a series of drills before staging a 10-minute scrimmage and breaking out into position work.
Following practice, fans had the opportunity to meet with the coaching staff and student-athletes and ask their favorite team members about the upcoming season. Staff and players were also on hand to autograph the newly-unveiled 2008-09 Texas Women's Basketball poster.
Beginning this year, Coach Goestenkors and the Longhorns will host a post-game Q&A session in the Lone Star Room. Admission is open to all, but space will be limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. The first "Texas Rewind" session will be held following the Nov. 9 exhibition game. Additional Texas Rewind sessions will be announced at a later date.
