Off-Court Texas Talk: In the Music Mode
As the nationally-ranked women's basketball team prepares for the start of official practice (on Oct. 15), we caught up with the players to talk about life "off-court". Today's topic – music. Who loves R&B … rap … reggae? What are some favorite songs to "karaoke" to? Best songs of all times? Check here for their thoughts! QUESTION #1: Who is your favorite artist and/or what is your favorite type of music? Erneisha Bailey (Fr. G): I cannot make up my mind – I love reggae, R&B, rap and rock – my favorite artist is Bob Marley. Jody Bell (Sr. F): My favorite music is country! Kala Bowers (Sr. F/G): I really don't have any preferences – I like making my own CD mixes of different music. Jamie Carey (Sr. G): I listen to everything. Kalee Carey (So. C): Don't think that because I am from the Texas Panhandle that I like country – I love Ludacris and Usher! Tamra Cobbins (Jr. G): I love gospel music. I was raised listening to it and have always loved listening to and singing gospel music. Annissa Hastings (Sr. F): My favorite singer is gospel artist Fred Hammond. Tiffany Jackson (So. F): Jay-Z all the way! Daria Mieloszynska (Jr. F): I don't know if anyone will believe that I am from Poland and LOVE reggae - especially anything by Bob Marley! – but it is true. Nina Norman (Jr. G): I love R&B music and Aaliyah. Katrina Robinson (RS-Fr. F): R&B, of course! Coco Reed (RS-Jr. G): R. Kelly is my favorite artist. Heather Schreiber (Sr. F): I listen to everything – R&B, rap, country and rock! Mercedes Williams (Sr. F): I love R&B. QUESTION #2: What is your favorite song to "karaoke" to (and artist)? Erneisha Bailey: You name it – I can sing it! Jody Bell: "I'm Moving On", by Rascal Flats (which I perform very well along with Bethany Howden from the UT volleyball team!) Tamra Cobbins: "I won't complain" (by Rev. Paul Jones) Annissa Hastings: "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah" (a 1745 church hymn) Tiffany Jackson: church songs Daria Mieloszynska: "Beauty" (by Dru Hill) Nina Norman: any Jagged Edge song Katrina Robinson: all the church songs we sing on the basketball team bus! Coco Reed: "Wanna Be Close" by Avant Heather Schreiber: I'll sing to any song I know - but only in the car when I am alone!
