AUSTIN, Texas -- Sophomore post Cokie Reed will miss the 2010-11 Texas Women’s Basketball season after undergoing surgery to her right foot on Friday, Oct. 1.

Statement from Head Women’s Athletics Trainer Tina Bonci
“Cokie Reed underwent surgery on her right foot to remove an extra bone and repair a tendon. She will miss the 2010-11 season.”

Statement from Head Coach Gail Goestenkors
“My heart goes out to Cokie and our entire team. Cokie made some huge strides this summer, and we were looking forward to her becoming an impact player for us this season. However, just like any close-knit family that is faced with adversity, Cokie and our team will become stronger because of this.”

Reed was named to the 2010 Big 12 All-Freshman Team after averaging 8.8 ppg and 4.6 rpg in conference action. Reed saw 16.7 mpg in Texas’ 33 contests last season.
