Women's Basketball on tap for 10 national, three regional televised games

AUSTIN, Texas -- For the Texas women's basketball program, national and regional TV coverage is a huge part of the program's legendary status. And that national exposure continues for the 2006-07 season when the Longhorns will be showcased on national TV a total of 10 times and on regional television three times, as of September 12.

In 2006-07, head coach Jody Conradt's Longhorns are scheduled to make 13 regular-season appearances on national or regional television. This includes two games on ESPN2, two on ESPNU, four on FSN (FOX Sports Net), two on CSTV and three on FSNSW (Fox Sports Southwest).

In the past 10 years, Jody Conradt's team has appeared on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FOX Sports Net (FSN), FSN Southwest and CSTV (College Sports Television) and regional television throughout the nation a total of 157 times - for an average of 16 TV broadcasts a year. This is the most national TV appearances of any Big 12 women's basketball program.

Texas' two ESPN2 contests in 2006-07 are against Purdue (Sun., Jan. 7) at 2 p.m. (Central) in Austin as part of the Big 12/Big Ten Challenge, and against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma in a "Big Monday" matchup (Feb. 12, 6 p.m. Central).

On FSN at home at the Frank Erwin Center, the Longhorns square off against Tennessee (Sun., Dec. 17, 12:30 p.m.), Texas A&M (Jan. 21, 2 p.m.) and Texas Tech (Feb. 24, 3 p.m.). On the road, Texas and Kansas State meet on FSN on Feb. 3 (4:30 p.m.) on FSN.

UT has ESPNU tilts at Duke on Sunday, Dec. 10 (noon Central) and at home against Oklahoma (Wed., Jan. 31, 6 p.m.).

Both Texas versus Baylor Big 12 matchups will air on CSTV - at Austin (Wed., Jan. 24, 7 p.m.) and at Waco (Sun., Feb. 18, 2 p.m.).

UT's regional TV appearances on FSNSW are part of The University of Texas' own basketball TV broadcast package (Longhorns Sports Network/UT Syndicated TV) in agreement with FSN. Those telecasts this year are: Texas-Louisiana Lafayette (Mon., Nov. 13) and Texas-Kansas (Sat., Feb. 10) from Austin and the Texas at Texas Tech conference game (Sat., Jan. 27).

Big 12 women's basketball teams in total will have 34 appearances on national television via ESPN and FSN (Fox Sports Net), with seven on ESPN affiliates and 27 on FSN. The Big 12 package includes both games of the Big 12/Big Ten Challenge, with the Challenge games Ohio State at Oklahoma on Dec. 20 and Purdue at Texas on Jan. 7.

For the sixth consecutive year, FSN also will telecast the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship (except for first round contests). The 2007 tourney takes place at Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City - a first-time site for the conference's tournament.
