2007-08 ESPN TV schedule for Women's Basketball announced

DALLAS -- The 2007-08 Big 12 women's basketball television package with ESPN, as announced Friday by the league office, features nine games on ESPN2 or ESPNU. Five of those contests are conference matchups, while four of them feature Big 12 teams against non-league opponents.

The University of Texas will make three of those nine league showings on the ESPN network - the second most of any Big 12 school.

Under the direction of new head coach Gail Goestenkors, the Longhorns will be featured on ESPN2 twice, facing defending NCAA champion Tennessee on Sunday, Nov. 18 in Knoxville, Tenn. (2 p.m. Central) before hosting Texas A&M in Austin in an ESPN2 league telecast on Sunday, Feb. 24 (2 p.m. Central). Additionally, the Longhorns square off against Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. on ESPNU on Sunday, Feb. 3 (1 p.m.).

Earlier this week, it was announced that Texas will have four other games televised nationally this upcoming season on FSN (FOX Sports Net) as part of the Big 12's package with that national network. (At a further date, more UT basketball telecasts on FSN Southwest and other affiliates will be announced).

The Big 12 will have 36 appearances on national or regional television with nine on ESPN affiliates and 27 on FSN.

All games in the Big 12's ESPN2/ESPNU package will be played on Sundays, beginning Jan. 20, 2008.
