Periodically during the off-season, the returning Longhorns basketball players will keep everyone up-to-date on their off-court activities, training and workout, summer academic work and general thoughts as they get ready to take to the court next fall.
Hi everyone!
First, summer school is OVER! We have a little break now before returning to campus next week for Fall Orientation.
I am really excited to be graduating in May of 2007! I have 15 hours left to get my degree, with nine hours left to take classes in my major.
I know I have another year left of basketball eligibility left after this season, but my graduation is close, and this will be my last year of playing for UT. The last four years have been difficult, as I've taken some minor detours on figuring out my major. Now, I will graduate with a degree in sociology, with education as my minor. I hope next year to be teaching in the junior or senior high school level.
This summer, I attended both semesters of summer school like most of my teammates. The thing I am most proud of is that I coached an AAU basketball team - the Austin Lady Magic, for 12-and under players. We won two of our last three tournaments, and I am very proud of the girls! (If I get a team photo soon, I promise to post it here on the website!)
I coached two times a week and tournaments on the weekend, in addition to taking classes, doing workouts and studying ... And working our UT basketball camps. A full summer!
In coaching the girls, the best thing I learned was to be a more patient person.
So, my last words are - I came in with Tiff (Tiffany Jackson), and we will leave together.
