Women's Basketball announces 2013 Big 12 Conference schedule

2012-13 Texas Women's Basketball Schedule For the second-consecutive season, the conference schedule features a double round robin format consisting of 18 games with Big 12 members playing each other twice. The team(s) that finishes with the best winning percentage in league games will be crowned the Big 12 regular season champion. Texas opens Big 12 play at Iowa State (Jan. 2) before hosting Oklahoma (Jan. 5). Following their first visit to Morgantown, W. Va., for a conference contest against West Virginia (Jan. 9), the Longhorns return to Austin for back-to-back games with Oklahoma State (Jan. 12) and Texas Tech (Jan. 16). UT will travel to Oklahoma (Jan. 19) and Kansas (Jan. 23) before closing the first half of conference play against Kansas State (Jan. 26) in Austin. The second half of Big 12 action begins with a contest at TCU (Feb. 2) before the Horns return home to host Iowa State (Feb. 6) and Baylor (Feb. 9). Following the two-game homestand, Texas is scheduled to visit Kansas State (Feb. 13) and Texas Tech (Feb. 17). A home contest against Kansas (Feb. 20), road game at Baylor (Feb. 23) and a TCU (Feb. 26) visit to the Frank Erwin Center close the month of February for the Horns. Texas travels to Oklahoma State (March 2) before welcoming West Virginia (March 5) to conclude the regular season. The format has been adjusted for the 2013 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship as it will be played the weekend before the men's championship, and in a different city for the first time in Conference history. Dallas' American Airlines Center will host the women's championship Friday-Monday, March 8-11, 2013. The men's championship will be played March 13-16 in Kansas City's Sprint Center.
Two first-round matchups of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship will be played on Friday, March 8, followed by quarterfinals on Saturday, March 9. Semifinals are scheduled for Sunday, March 10 with the final contested on Monday, March 11. The winner earns the Big 12's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.
