AUSTIN, Texas -- A home game against eight-time NCAA Champion Tennessee, road games at perennial powers Stanford and Michigan State, and appearances in tournaments at UNLV and San Diego highlight the 2010-11 University of Texas Women's Basketball non-conference schedule released today.

The Longhorns open the 2010-11 season with a four-game homestand beginning on Nov. 12 against Mississippi Valley State. Texas hosts Northwestern State (Nov. 16), Boston University (Nov. 21) and Idaho State (Nov. 24) in its first contests of the season.

Following the season-opening home stretch, Texas travels to two-time national champion Stanford (Nov. 28) and Michigan State (Dec. 5) in back-to-back weekends. The Horns and Cardinal meet for the first time since 1995 and just the sixth time in the history of the two storied programs. The Horns and Spartans meet for the fourth time in the series and the first time since 2004.

Texas returns to Austin for a midweek contest against Texas-Pan American (Dec. 8) before its' annual clash with Tennessee (Dec. 12).

The Longhorns head to UNLV for three games in as many days at the Basketball Travelers Classic scheduled for Dec. 18-20. Texas meets in-state foe SMU (Dec. 18), host UNLV (Dec. 19) and South Florida (Dec. 20) during its visit to the Silver State.

UT bids adieu to 2010 at the Maggie Dixon Surf `N Slam Classic at San Diego. The Horns will compete in the Torero Division of the two-game tournament and face Cincinnati (Dec. 28) before the championship/consolation game against either Hofstra or host San Diego (Dec. 30).

Texas concludes its non-conference slate with a home contest against Sam Houston State (Jan. 2) prior to opening Big 12 Conference play. An exhibition game against San Antonio-based Trinity University (Nov. 5) at the Erwin Center precedes the Longhorns' schedule.

Including Big 12 Conference opponents, Coach Gail Goestenkors and the Longhorns will face a minimum of nine teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season (Stanford, Michigan State, Tennessee, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Iowa State).
