Women's Basketball announces 2011 Big 12 Conference schedule

• 2010-11 Women's Basketball schedule IRVING, Texas -- Home games against five 2010 NCAA Tournament participants highlight the Longhorns' 2011 Big 12 Conference schedule released Monday by the league. Texas opens its conference slate on the road in Columbia, Mo., where it faces Missouri on Jan. 8. UT's non-conference schedule is expected to be finalized and released to the public in the coming days. Texas welcomes 2010 NCAA Final Four participants Baylor and Oklahoma in back-to-back home contests on Jan. 12 and 15, respectively, at the Frank Erwin Center. Fellow 2010 NCAA Tournament participants visiting Austin include Oklahoma State (Jan. 22), Nebraska (Feb. 15) and Texas A&M (Feb. 26). The Horns will close the home portion of their league schedule against Texas Tech on March 2. On the road, UT's faces Missouri (Jan. 8), Texas A&M (Jan. 19), Texas Tech (Jan. 26), Kansas State (Feb. 9), Baylor (Feb. 12), Oklahoma (Feb. 19) and Iowa State (Feb. 21). The Horns' final regular season game will take place at Oklahoma State on March 5. A new format will be featured for the 2011 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship to be played March 8, 9, 11 & 12 in Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium. The postseason event will return to its previous starting date of Tuesday with first-round matchups. Quarterfinals will be played on Wednesday with a day off on Thursday and semifinals held on Friday. With the new format, the women's and men's championship finals will be played on the same day for the first time in Big 12 history. The women will play early in the day on Saturday with the men competing Saturday evening.
