When did it sink in that you’re officially a Longhorn? It was about 10:30 one morning, one of my first days on campus this summer, and I went to the gym, and I just said, “Wow. I’m here.” I have an ID, you scan it, and I’m in the gym. Then what really made it official was when we started working out -- the demand of it, and the expectations.

What is your personal goal, what do you want to do between now and the season, to get from high school to competing in the Big 12 and on a national level? My biggest thing is my conditioning, and to get into the shape where I can stay in the game the whole time without getting tired. Running the floor is a big thing for me right now. I expect the best, because we have the best coaches. I’m excited to work with coach (Mickie) DeMoss, because she’s such a good coach for the post players. I’m hoping to go up another skill level working with her.

Do you like to play defense? Occasionally (laughs). I’m joking. Defense is a part of it, and I like to block shots. I like to rebound.

Being from the state of Texas, how does it feel to now be at The University of Texas? The atmosphere, Austin is a great city, it just feels like home. It really does. Growing up in Texas, this is all you hear about. Texas sports are dominant. Why wouldn’t you want to come here?

For people who haven’t seen you play, what should they expect? I’m going to rebound, and I’m going to blocks shots. That’s my focus starting off.

What made it easy for you to choose Texas? Coach G. I didn’t want to be anywhere else.

How do you describe yourself as a player? Really, I want them to see that I can bring a lot to the team. I’ll talk or do whatever I need to. I can shoot a little bit, but I don’t like to shoot. I’m more of a passer. All I’m worried about is assists. I like for the crowd do go “Wow” on the pass.

What excites you about this team and this coming season? The people coming back are really competitive. Everybody goes full-out when they’re on the court. Every game, we will give it our all. And I’ve played with Cokie before (in summer club teams) and she’s got some offensive moves.

Now that you’re officially on campus, what does it feel like being in these facilities every day? What got me is that the gym is open 24 hours. It’s nice to be able to go and work on whatever, whenever you want. Pretty nice.

What do you want to learn from this coaching staff? I know they all have skills, and know what is expected and what is needed to be great players. I just know they’ll teach me so much more than what I already know now. So, I’m excited just about learning more about the game.
