Incoming freshmen Arriaran and Williams look to earn spots on USA Basketball U-19 National Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- University of Texas incoming freshmen 5-10 Erika Arriaran (Norco, Calif./Norco HS) and 6-1 Earnesia Williams (Sapulpa, Okla./Sapulpa HS) will be looking to secure spots on the 2005 USA Women's Basketball Under 19 National Team (U19) this week as they compete at the 2005 International Sports Invitational, taking place Tuesday-Saturday, June 7-11 in San Diego. Host site will be San Diego State University.

High school All-America standouts Arriaran and Williams are two of the 15 finalists contending for the 12 spots U19 National Team roster. The 15 finalists were selected following USA Basketball's Women's National Team Trials in May.

The 2005 International Sports Invitational promises to feature the world's future basketball stars.Women's U19 Teams from the United States, Australia, China and Russia will battle for the 2005 International Sports Invitational gold medal. The men's International Sports Invitational field includes seven teams -- three USA Teams (Red, White and Blue) and teams from Canada, China, New Zealand and Russia.

The International Sports Invitational is a preview of the expected medal contenders for the FIBA U19 World Championship that is being held July 15-24 in Tunisia. The 12 players who make the final USA Basketball U19 roster will compete in Tunisia for the United States.

Named as finalists for the USA U19 World Championship Team in addition to Arriaran and Williams were: Jolene Anderson (Wisconsin/Port Wing, Wis.); Nicky Anosike (Tennessee/Staten Island, N.Y.);  Keshonda Carrier (Lake Charles, La./LaGrange HS); Essence Carson (Rutgers/Paterson, N.J.); Quianna Chaney (LSU/Baton Rouge, La.); Marissa Coleman (Cheltenham, Md./St. Johns College HS); Crystal Langhorne (Maryland/Willingboro, N.J.); Erlana Larkins (North Carolina/Riviera Beach, Fla.);  Courtney Paris (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont High School); Abby Waner (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Thunder Ridge High School); Candice Wiggins (Stanford/Poway, Calif.); Christina Wirth (Mesa, Ariz./Seton Catholic HS) and Sharnee' Zoll (Virginia/Philadelphia, Pa.).
