Big 12 Women's Basketball sets NCAA attendance record while leading nation for 11th season

IRVING, Texas -- Big 12 women’s basketball set an NCAA attendance record for the second consecutive year with 1,091,289 fans while leading the nation in attendance in 2009-10 for the 11th straight season. The Conference reached the one-million mark for the fifth time, bettering last year’s record attendance of 1,073,069. The Big 12’s 2009-10 average of 5,247 per game fell just short of its own national record of 5,381 set in 2003-04. The Big 12 remains the only conference to reach the one-million attendance mark, also accomplishing the feat in 2001-02 (1,002,651), 2006-07 (1,023,576) and 2007-08 (1,010,528) in addition to 2008-09 and 2009-10.
