Pair of 2010-11 signees named 'Miss Basketball'

April 30, 2010

AUSTIN, Texas -- A pair of 2010-11 Texas Women's Basketball signees have been tabbed as `Miss Basketball' in their respective home states. Anne Marie Hartung, a power forward from Bowling Green, Mo., was named `Miss Show-Me Basketball,' while guard Chassidy Fussell from Union City, Tenn., was honored as the `Class 2A Miss Basketball.'

Hartung earned Missouri's top senior girls basketball honor after averaging 19.4 ppg, 10.1 rpg and 3.8 bpg for Bowling Green last season. The twice-named Adidas Phenom (2007, 2010) and Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 3A All-State Team honoree is ranked as an ESPN HoopGurlz Top 100 entering next season. Hartung played for Showtime Hoops in California during the 2008 club season before switching to Nike's Cy-Fair Shock club team in 2009.

Hartung will join sophomore Yvonne Anderson as the second `Miss Show-Me Basketball' on next season's roster.

Fussell, a finalist for the Class 2A title last season, averaged 26.2 ppg, 11.1 rpg and 5.8 apg while leading the Obion Central girls to a share of the District 13AA championship. She scored more than 2,500 points during her high school career, and finished as No. 2 on the school's all-time scoring list. The two-time all-stater was a McDonald's All-American nominee in her senior season.

Last year, Fussell's Memphis Elite club team won the 2009 AAU 16U Championship and she received MVP honors for her performance.
