IRVING, Texas -- Four University of Texas players earned spots on the 2009-10 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Women's Basketball teams, the league office announced Monday. The official All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players. Senior guard Brittainey Raven was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for the third-consecutive year, and freshman post Cokie Reed earned a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. Junior guard Kathleen Nash picked up her second All-Big 12 Honorable Mention accolade in as many seasons, and sophomore guard Ashleigh Fontenette earned her first. Raven leads the Longhorns and ranks 10th in the Big 12 in scoring with 14.6 ppg. The Preseason All-Big 12 selection led UT in scoring in eight league contests, including four 20+ point games. Raven's 1,674 career points place her 12th all-time in points at Texas, and with her 130th career game played at Baylor on March 7, she moved into a tie for 10th most games played in UT history. Additionally, she is the only Texas player to rank Top 25 in both rebounding (6.2 rpg, 15th) and scoring (10.7 ppg, T25th) in league games. Nash became just the second player in school history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 150 3-point field goals this season, and she became the 34th player in UT history to reach 1,000 career points.
Fontenette, UT's starting point guard in all 16 league contests, finished fourth in the league with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio and tied for eighth with 3.3 apg. Fontenette recorded eight double-digit scoring performances in Big 12 action, and she led UT in assists in seven outings. Her 44.22 FG percentage (65-of-147) ranks 11th in the league.
