Texas-Oklahoma meet tonight in Austin in Women's Basketball
AUSTIN, Texas -- Tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 15) at the Erwin Center, the Texas Longhorns women's basketball team squares off against Big 12 leader Oklahoma in a 7 p.m. Tipoff as the Horns face their ninth Top-25 ranked team this season. Plenty of tickets remain for the game which will NOT be televised in Texas; the only TV provided for tonight's game will be in Oklahoma via Sooner Sports TV. The Longhorns, 12-9 overall (6-5 in the Big 12) take on the 21-4 Sooners who stand 11-0 in the conference. UT leads the series against the Sooners, 19-9, and is 8-2 against OU in the last 10 meetings. This is a rematch of the teams' first meeting on January 25 in Norman, won by the Sooners (75-57). Texas is coming off a hard-fought 71-53 setback to No. 4 Connecticut on Sunday, in a game which saw senior point guard Nina Norman register a career-high 24 points while UT was without the services of injured top scorer and rebounder Tiffany Jackson (out with an ankle injury). Norman enters the Oklahoma game needing just three more points to reach the 1,000 point milestone and become the 32nd player in Texas history to do so. The current Big 12 standings find seven teams fighting for the second through seventh spots. OU is followed by Texas A&M (8-3), while Baylor (7-4) and Missouri (7-4) are tied for third; Kansas and Texas Tech are tied for fifth (with 7-4 marks), while Texas (6-5), Iowa State (6-6) and Nebraska (4-7) follow. The last three spots are held by Kansas (3-8), Colorado (2-10) and Texas' upcoming Saturday opponent - Oklahoma State (0-11).
