Feb. 11, 2013
IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference announced Monday the selection of Texas freshman center Imani McGee-Stafford as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Co-Freshman of the Week. The voting was conducted by a panel of media covering Big 12 women's basketball. McGee-Stafford shares this week's honor alongside Iowa State's Kidd Blaskowsky due to voting ties among the panel. The honor is the third-consecutive weekly honor and fourth overall for McGee-Stafford. She earned previous recognition from the Big 12 Conference on Nov. 26, Jan. 28 and Feb. 4. This is also the sixth weekly honor for a Longhorn under first-year head coach Karen Aston, as sophomore forward Nneka Enemkpali was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Nov. 12 and Nov. 26. McGee-Stafford averaged 9.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in Texas' games last week. She posted her third double-double in the last four games and ninth of the season against No. 1 Baylor with a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with 13 points. She also played a career-high 38 minutes. McGee-Stafford has 12 double-figure scoring and rebounding efforts this season. Texas resumes Big 12 Conference action Wednesday evening when it travels to Kansas State (7 p.m. CT, FOX Sports Kansas City).
