The Longhorns saw their two-game win streak snapped in Stillwater on Wednesday as Oklahoma State handed the Longhorns a 77-58 setback, as UT shot a season-low .290 from the floor (20-69)... The Jayhawks ended their nine-game Big 12 losing streak on Tuesday with a 70-68 overtime victory at Colorado.
This will be the 17th game between Texas and KU, with Texas leading the series, 10-6 ... UT is 6-1 against the Jayhawks in the last seven meetings, as Kansas snapped Texas' six-game series win streak last year with a 70-61 win (Jan. 3) at KU.
Horns' Roller Coaster Ride
Texas is 3-3 in its last six games, and 6-4 in its last 10... Three of those wins, however, have come against Top 25 opponents - 64-61 over No. 10 Purdue (Jan. 7), a 64-45 win over No. 17/18 Texas A&M (64-45, Jan. 21) and a 67-62 win over No. 9/8 Oklahoma (Jan. 31)- all in Austin ... Tonight marks the 16th time in 25 games that the Longhorns will play at home at the Frank Erwin Center... Nine of Texas' first 11 games, and 11 of the first 15 were at home ... Jackson Tied for Fifth in UT Career Rebounding, Sixth in Scoring, Approaching 1,000 Boards
All-America senior forward Tiffany Jackson is just 34 rebounds shy of 1,000 career rebounds, as the 6-3 senior has pulled down 966 in her career in 115 games ... Jackson, fifth in Texas career rebound average (8.4 rpg), will become just the FOURTH player in UT's illustrious history to reach the 1,000-rebound milestone ... Currently, Jackson is tied for No. 5 in all-time Texas rebounds with former All-America great Annette Smith-Knight (1981-86) ... Jackson is 17 rebounds shy of tying Cinietra Henderson for the No. 4 spot (983, 1988-93).
Jackson also has registered 1,811 career points, ranking No. 6 in all-time scoring... Jackson needs 20 points to tie Vicki Hall (1988-93, 1,831 points) for No. 5 and 172 points to tie Henderson (1,983) for No. 4 honors... Jackson has an outside chance to reach the 2,000-point milestone as well, needing 189 more points to hit that mark; if she does, she will be the fourth Texas player to reach 2,000 points and the FIRST in Texas history to register 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her career.
Conradt Closes in on 900
Already the No. 2 all-time winningest men's OR women's college basketball coach in history, Jody Conradt needs two more victories to join the illustrious 900-victory plateau... Only one collegiate hoops coach has registered 900-plus wins- Tennessee's Pat Summitt (with 935).
Texas Stat Leaders
All-America candidate and 6-3 senior F Tiffany Jackson continues as Texas' scoring (18.0 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg), blocks (1.2) and steals (2.6) leader and is coming off her ninth double-double of the year as she notched 14 points and 10 boards against Oklahoma State on Wednesday ... With sophomore G Erika Arriaran (10.5 ppg) out with her ACL injury, UT's second-leading scorer is redshirt freshman F Earnesia Williams (8.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg)... She is followed by freshman PG Carla Cortijo (7.6 ppg, team-high 4.3 apg), junior G Erneisha Bailey (7.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg), freshman G Brittainey Raven (7.1 ppg)... In Big 12 stats, Jackson leads the leage in steals (2.5 spg), is fourth in rebounding (9.0) and seventh in scoring (15.8), while Cortijo is second in league assist average (5.0 apg).
A Look at Kansas
Kansas is coming off its first conference victory after defeating Colorado, 70-68, in overtime Tuesday on the road ... Kansas is led by freshman G Kelly Kohn (9.9 ppg, team-high 37 3's), senior G Shaquina Mosley (9.0 ppg, 3.7 apg), freshman F Danielle McCray (8.9 ppg), sophomore F Marija Zinic (6.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg) and junior F Taylor McIntosh (6.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg) ... Mosley averages 13.0 ppg and 5.2 rpg in Big 12 action and has logged 16.0 points. 7.4 rebounds and 5.7 in the last seven games.
Texas-Kansas Series
This is the 17th meeting between these two schools, with Texas leading the play, 10-6 ... Texas' six-game win streak in the series was ended last Jan. 3 as Kansas beat the No. 19/23 Longhorns, 70-61 in Lawrence as the Jayhawks snapped a 36-game losing streak against ranked opponents... Prior to that loss, UT's last loss to Kansas had come on Feb. 3, 2001 (70-60) in Austin ... Senior post Crystal Kemp led the way for KU with 21 points and 10 rebounds .. KU led at intermission, 39-31 ... Kansas, which went 8-for-20 from 3-point range, led by as many as 14 points with 9:03 to go and the Longhorns never got closer than seven in the final minutes... Texas shot 43 percent in the game to KU's 44 percent, and both teams had 35 rebounds... UT was led by junior Tiffany Jackson's 18 points.
Jackson & Cook Strong Against Jayhawks
In her three prior games against Kansas, 6-3 senior Tiffany Jackson has put up impressive numbers with 55 points and 19 rebounds in the three games for averages of 18.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg against the Jayhawks ... In addition to her 18 points and three boards in last year's loss, Jackson totaled 16 points/ 9 rebounds as a frosh and 21 points/ 7 boards as a sophomore.
Last year, UT also received double-digit scoring from then-freshman post Aubry Cook who came off the bench to log 10 points and six rebounds in just 15 minutes of play.
