Feb. 4, 2013
IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference announced Monday the selection of Texas freshman center Imani McGee-Stafford as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week. The voting was conducted by a panel of media covering Big 12 women's basketball. The honor is the second-consecutive weekly honor and third overall for McGee-Stafford. She earned previous recognition from the Big 12 Conference on Nov. 26 and Jan. 28. This is also the fifth weekly honor for a Longhorn under first-year head coach Karen Aston, as sophomore forward Nneka Enemkpali was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Nov. 12 and Nov. 26. McGee-Stafford scored a career-high 23 points and had 13 rebounds in the Longhorns' 61-56 win over TCU on Feb. 2. McGee-Stafford also added seven blocked shots, her most in a Big 12 contest. McGee-Stafford's double-double marked the eighth in her freshman campaign. McGee-Stafford and the Longhorns return to action Wednesday evening when they host Iowa State at the Frank Erwin Center (7 p.m. CT, Longhorn Network).
