This week, according to the CollegeRPI.com, UT's schedule is rated the TOUGHEST in the nation (up from No. 2 the last two weeks), while the Horns are ranked No. 12 overall in the RPI ... Iowa State stands No. 74 in the RPI, and its schedule is ranked No. 144 nationally... Of this week's AP Top 25 teams, eight are on Texas' regular season schedule:- No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Duke, No. 5 Baylor, No. 7 UConn, No. 10 Rutgers, No. 16 Oklahoma, No. 18 New Mexico and No. 24 Missouri.

Texas returns home for the first time since December 21... Texas has fallen out of the Associated Press women's college basketball poll for the first time since the week of Nov. 19, 2001, ending a run of 81 consecutive appearances; UT also is out of the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll after a run of 80 consecutive weeks... The Longhorns (6-6 overall) have started Big 12 play 0-2 for the first time ever.. The Longhorns are coming off a three-game road trip, and last played on January 6th when they lost at No. 4 Baylor, 61-48 ... The injury-ridden Longhorns have their first three-game losing streak in four years, dating back 124 games... Iowa State brings a 10-3 overall record and a 1-1 Big 12 mark into the game ... For Iowa State, the Cyclones are once again one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the nation and have one of the best team defenses ... ISU is No. 4 nationally in fie3ld goal percentage defense, allowing the opponents to shoot just 33.2 percent from the floor ... Tonight's game marks the 13th game in the Texas-ISU series, with the series tied, 6-6... Texas' four-game win streak was broken in the teams' only meeting last year, as the No. 18 Cyclones beat the No. 14 Longhorns, 73-69 on Feb. 5 in Ames, Iowa... In all-time games in Austin, Texas is 4-1; in games played at Ames, the Longhorns are just 1-4; at neutral sites, UT is 1-1.
Last year, Iowa State never trailed after taking a 39-35 halftime lead and held off repeated threats by the Longhorns during the final 20 minutes ... Texas tied the game at 66-66 on a Tiffany Jackson rebound and putback with 45.3 seconds left ... On the next play, a 3-pointer by ISU guard Megan Ronhovde from the right corner with 28 seconds left gave the Cyclones the lead... Ann O'Neil made two free throws with 8.7 seconds to go -- after UT missed a 3-point attempt -- to make it 71-66, and Texas' Daria Mieloszynska hit a "3" from 28 feet to cut the lead to 71-69, but O'Neil made two more free throws with three seconds remaining to finish it off.
O'Neil and Medders led Iowa State with 19 points each, with O'Neil going 10-for-11 from the line and grabbing seven rebounds... Jackson led Texas with a double-double and game-highs of 23 points and 14 rebounds ... Nina Norman scored 11 with game-highs of seven assists and four steals ... The win kept Iowa State unbeaten (12-0) in Hilton Coliseum...UT held a 44-35 edge in rebounds... In shooting, ISU shot 45 percent, while Texas hit 38 percent of its shots... The big difference was not in 3-pointers (Texas was 5-17, ISU went 7-19), but in free throws... The Cyclones made 20 of 23 foul shots, led by O'Neil (10-11), while Texas was 10-for-16 from the line.

Two Longhorn starters are averaging double-figure scoring in prior games against ISU ...
