IRVING, Texas -- University of Texas 6-3 senior forward Tiffany Jackson was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week Monday for her standout play in two games last week, in voting conducted by by a media voting panel for games from January 2-7.
Jackson collected her sixth double-double of the year with game-highs of 28 points and 11 rebounds against Nebraska on January 3 and then led the way in UT’s upset 64-61 win over No. 10 Purdue on January 7 with a game-high 20 points to go with eight rebounds and two assists.

Jackson, who leads the No. 23 Longhorns (11-4) in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots, was honored by the Big 12 for the second time this season and for the ninth time overall in her career. She also earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors on Dec. 22. This is the third weekly honor for the Longhorns since Dec. 22, as redshirt freshman forward Earnesia Williams (Sapulpa, Okla.) earned Rookie of the Week honors a week ago.
In the games against Nebraska and Purdue, Jackson averaged 24 ppg and 9.5 rpg while hitting 20-of-23 from the foul line with six assists. Against Purdue, Jackson notched two key free throws with 32 seconds left to help lift UT to victory. In the final nine minutes of the game, she had eight points, two rebounds and an assist.
Jackson set a single-game personal best versus Nebraska by hitting 14 free throws, going 14-for-15 from the foul line in the game. The 6-3 forward became UT’s all-time free throws made leader during the Purdue contest. She now has 426 made free throws, surpassing the former record held by Cinietra Henderson who had 425 from 1989-93. With eight rebounds against Purdue, Jackson moved from the No. 10 rebounding spot to tie for the No. 7 position as she now has 887 rebounds, tying Vicki Hall (1988-93).
Jackson ranks first among all Big 12 players in steals average (2.78 spg), second among all players in overall scoring (20.1 ppg) and is third in conference rebounding (9.1 rpg). She also leads the Longhorns in steals (30, 2.78), minutes played (34.6 mpg) and blocks (18, 1.2 bpg).
Griffin averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against Texas (a 79-75 Nebraska win) and Oklahoma. She hit 17-of-28 field goals (60.7 percent) and 9-of-12 (75 percent) free throws with two blocked shots, one assist and one steal in 28.5 minutes per game. Wilson averaged 9.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in Baylor’s two Big 12 victories last week over Texas Tech and Kansas.
